Want to try more than one?

We offer vacation packages that can include:
Accommodations at the Holiday Shores
Riverboat tours
Riverside Bar-B-Que
Kayak/canoe rentals and lessons
and more!!

With groups of 10 or more we can arrange kayak/canoe lessons through our cooperation with local paddling companies.  Call for prices and custom vacation packages.

Kayaking and canoeing are great ways to enjoy rivers.  You become one with the water and experience things not accessible to power boaters.  Try gliding up in an outboard boat through 6 inches of water to watch a turtle sunning on a river bank and you'll understand.  Bring your own kayaks or canoes, or we can make arrangements to provide them to you.

A kayak/canoe trail passes directly in front of the Holiday Shores and the confluence of the Wisconsin River with the Mississippi River is 3 miles south of us.  You can even launch from the sand bar directly in front of the Holiday Shores Motel.  These are just a few of the many opportunities and places to enjoy.  You won't be able to do it all in a single day, so plan more than one!

The Upper Mississippi River Valley is a major migration route for numerous species of birds making this area world famous for birdwatching.  Over 40% of North American waterfowl and shorebirds use this route.

Power boating allows you to enjoy the beauty that the Mississippi has to offer with the added advantage of getting there fast!  With so much boatable water on the Mississippi River, there's a whole lot to see and with the adjacent McGregor City Marina offering overnight and extended stay boat slips for a very reasonable fee and a free - public boat launch and ample public parking lot; access is ever so convenient.  For smaller boats such as canoe, kayaks and some run abouts, the adjacent sand bar can provide a convenient place to pull out.
Boat rentals, including houseboats are available in the immediate area.  We can provide you with contact names and phone number or make arrangements for you.

Like to go fishing?  The Mississippi River in the McGregor/Prairie du Chien area offers a variety of opportunities for fishing; from relaxing on a lawn chair or sitting on our seawall in front of the Holiday Shores, to wetting your line in one of the many back bays, channels and tributary streams and rivers in the area.  Don't have a boat, we can "hook you up" with one of the local fishing guides who will take you out to one of their "hot spots" to enjoy a day of fishing and hopefully your own fresh caught fish dinner that night at the Holiday Shores Motel.  Need a fishing rod? we'll loan you one of ours!  How about a grill?  We can lend you one.  Someone to bait your hook?  Sorry, you're on your own!

What could be a better way to relax than watching the river flow and the Mississippi being a working river has plenty to watch.  Fascination by day, it's an awesome sight at night to see barges pass by as their powerful navigation lights search the river for channel markers to stay on path.

Like Bar-B-Que ----- who doesn't?

Reserve 20 or more rooms Monday - Thursday summertime and we'll throw a free Bar-B-Que for ya to enjoy Riverside!  Stay with us Friday - Sunday and for groups of ten or more rooms, we can arrange a catered Bar-B-Que.  Want to prepare your own, we can loan you the grill and tools.  There's grocery stores in Prairie du Chien to get the fixins, so you don't need to tote your victuals and libations with you.

Bar-B-Que is great and Riverside it's a treat that can't be beat.
